Born in Düziçi – Osmaniye in 1963, he completed primary, secondary, and high school education (Haydarpaşa) in Istanbul. he graduated from Çukurova University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, with a degree in English Business Administration in 1990.
In 1991, he began his academic career as a Research Assistant in the Department of Turkish Folk Dance at Gaziantep University State Conservatory of Turkish Music.
In 1994, he completed his master’s degree in Folklore at the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography at Ankara University.
In 1998, he became a Lecturer in the Department of Performing Arts at Çukurova University State Conservatory.
In 2003, he earned a PhD in Folklore from the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography at Ankara University.
In 2006, he became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Performing Arts at Çukurova University State Conservatory.
Between 2011 and 2015, he worked at Çukurova University’s Faculty of Education.
In 2012, he received the title of Associate Professor in Performing Arts from the Interuniversity Council.
In 2015, he started working at Çukurova University’s Faculty of Communication, in the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema. In 2017, he was appointed as a professor in the same department and has been serving as the Head of the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department since 2018.
In 2022, he became the Director of the Intercultural Communication Studies Research and Application Center at Çukurova University.
On December 10, 2022, he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Çukurova University, a position he currently holds.
He conducts research in the fields of communication anthropology, urban studies, memory, culture, identity, media, ethnography, and ethnocoreology, and has authored numerous scientific studies, articles, and film projects.
