She graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Publicity. She pursued a master’s degree in 2002 and earned her Ph.D. in 2008 from the Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Relations and Publicity. In 1999, she began her academic career as a research assistant and continued as a faculty member at Başkent University Faculty of Communication. She has served as the Vice Dean of Başkent University Faculty of Communication, Head of the Communication and Design Department, Deputy Director of the Institute of Social Sciences, Head of the Student Affairs Department, and Advisor to the Rector.


She is currently serving as the Dean of Başkent University Faculty of Communication.


Her areas of academic interest include public relations, advertising, and communication history. Hızal, who has both national and international academic publications, has authored the book titled “Türkiye’de Modernleşme: Modernization in Turkey 1928-1950” and co-authored “Public Relations History: The Institutionalization Years 1960-1980.”


Hızal is a member of the Advisory Board of the Ankara University Communication Research and Application Center, the Advisory Board of the Başkent University Creative Culture Industries Center, and the Strategy Commission of Corporate Communication Coordinators. She is also a member of the Communication Research Association, Ankara Public Relations Association, Public Relations Association of Turkey, and the Management Academy Association, as well as a member of the Advisory Board of the Ankara City Council.

Additionally, she serves as an evaluator in the İLAD-ILEDAK Communication Education Accreditation processes. As of October 2024, she has been elected as a member of the ILEDAK Executive Board.
